FormulaShare of voice = own mentions ÷ (own mentions + competitor mentions)

Worked example: say you have 30 mentions of your own and your competitors have 70 combined. Then your share of voice is 30 ÷ 100 = 30%. If you divide only by the competitors, you get a ratio, not a share.

Why it matters

Clients often choose a party they already know. Share of voice shows how visible you are next to your competitors, and whether your brand and thought leadership are growing.

Where it goes wrong

Which competitors and channels do you count? If that set changes, the number jumps while nothing has really changed. Fix the set once.

How Dashly calculates it

Dashly calculates it per quarter from social listening, next to reach, branded search volume and the pipeline influenced by content.
