FormulaCost per hire = (internal recruitment costs + agency costs + media) ÷ hires

Worked example: say € 20,000 in internal costs, € 25,000 in agency costs and € 5,000 in media for 10 hires. Then the cost per hire is € 5,000.

It is an outcome metric for corporate recruitment.

Why it matters

For a recruitment department, recruitment is a cost you have to account for. Cost per hire shows what a new colleague costs, and whether in-house recruitment is cheaper than agencies.

Where it goes wrong

Internal costs, such as recruiters' hours, are often left out, so in-house recruitment looks cheaper than it is. And agency invoices sit in purchasing, not in the ATS.

How Dashly calculates it

Dashly calculates it per month from the ATS and accounting. Per channel, the model calculates channel costs ÷ hires from that channel, with the share of hires through agencies next to it.
