FormulaAttrition = employees who left ÷ average active pool

In corporate organisations it is called turnover per department: employees who left ÷ average number of employees, per department.

Why it matters

Every leaver has to be recruited and onboarded again. High attrition makes recruitment more expensive and the balance of demand and supply less stable.

Where it goes wrong

In a flex pool it is not always clear when someone has left: they simply stop showing up. Record when an employee counts as having left. Also look at the reason: voluntary or involuntary, too few hours, other work.

How Dashly calculates it

Dashly calculates attrition per month from the back office, with attrition by reason and retention after 90 days next to it. In the retention loop, a falling number of hours per employee leads to a retention conversation.
